So a few days ago the unreal happened and my blog was given a nod by the local Charleston newspaper The Post and Courier. On the front page *dusts off shoulders*. Jeremy’s gorgeous photos captivated many, and I’m so proud of him and his handy work with his expensive new lens. :) This small moment in the sun has caused me to look back at my progress since I started blogging. Given, it hasn’t been that long, but blogging is HARD. When I first started this blog I had the naive outlook that I’ll just write and people will read it. This is a lie, a misconception, a fable–whatever you want to call it. It takes marketing, networking, and downright harassing your friends and family to get an inkling of your name out there.
So thank you. Thank you husband, thank you family, thank you friends, thank you fellow bloggers, thank you Post and Courier. Thank you for liking, following, sharing, and encouraging me when I felt like what I was trying to do was pointless. I realize this is a small step, but it is a step! It’s way funner to write when people are actually reading, after all. It’s so easy to get discouraged, which believe me, I was getting there. But whether you are a new blogger, an old blogger, trying to start some completely different venture, keep with it. It will be hard work, but all things that are worth it are.
My spirits are feeling renewed now. Thank you for this breath of fresh air.
