For Valentine’s Day weekend Jeremy and I decided to head up to Murrells Inlet. He has been extremely busy with work lately and we thought a short getaway was in order. Our little jaunt at leaving real life behind didn’t begin so well though. The plan was to leave as soon as Jeremy got home from work. I had us packed, the house was clean, dinner was ready. Jeremy walks through the door and says, “There’s water coming from beneath the garage door.” We check it out and find out that our hot water heater has sprung a nasty leak and has to be replaced. We call someone out to look at it. They say they can replace it first thing in the morning and that we don’t have to be here as long as they have access to the garage.
After talking about it for a few minutes we decide to go ahead and still head out for our getaway. Then, about twenty minutes from our hotel we get pulled over. Super. With ticket in hand we contemplate going home. It is shaping up to be a terrible day, after all. We decide that we’re practically there, we might as well stay.
In the end, we were glad that we stayed. It was freezing cold, but we spent our days outdoors hand in hand walking the beaches, swampland, and forests that Murrells Inlet has to offer. Although Murrells Inlet is only an hour and a half from our house we’ve not spent much time there. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty that lies just off of Highway 17.
